Pet Valu Walk for Guide Dogs

This year’s National Walk Day will be held May 26, 2019. Join us with your canine friend, all dog’s welcome not just Dog Guide’s. As with previous years – High school students looking for community hours – You can obtain 10 hours by supporting a minimum of $100 raised and participating in the actual event so that we can give you your hours May 26. The 7 different programs are life altering for people with disabilities. In my situation alone – I am now able to drive my daughter with her Autism Assistant Dog to appointments at Holland Bloorview and Sick Kids without paying a respite worker to sit in the back seat with her in case we encounter traffic hold ups. Buddy stops her from fleeing from the car in the middle of a 400 series highway by providing weighted hugs!! My anxiety about her safety has also decrease since who can get to Toronto by car without some type of grid lock being encountered.

Thanks to our sponsors, 100 per cent of the funds raised from the Walk go directly towards the raising, training and placement of Dog Guides for Canadians with medical or physical disabilities. Dog Guides Canada has already provided specially trained Dog Guides to more than 3,000 men, women and children, all without any government funding. With your help more people will experience the mobility, safety and independence a devoted Dog Guide brings
