Woman charged after car gets wedged under recycling truck

Barrie Police have arrested and charged a driver after a collision between a recycling truck and sedan in the east end of Barrie.

On Monday, March 12,  at 10:40 a.m., police were called to the area of Grove Street East and Owen Street for reports of a collision, where a small sedan had struck the recycling truck from the rear as it was collecting waste and was wedged under the truck.

No injuries were reported.

Officers suspected alcohol was involved, but the roadside test came up negative. However, the officer learned the 48-year-old female could have possible been on medication that altered her mental state and she was arrested for being impaired by drug.

The Barrie female was charged with care and control while impaired by drug and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

She will attend a Barrie court in April.
