Rolling Stone Magazine has released a pretty comprehensive list of the Greatest Songs of the Century So Far. These kinds of lists will always divide people because we all have our own favourites and go to genres of music so for all of us to agree on a single greatest song is virtually impossible.
That being said, the crew at Rolling Stone say they ‘reached out to a large group of artists, producers, critics and industry experts who sent us ranked lists of their favorite songs. We tabulated the votes. Our own editorial list might look a little different, but the result is an excellent reflection of an incredible period in music history.’
It’s crazy that we’re only looking at just over 18 years worth of music in this century.
Do you agree with the list? (Probably not…)
These were the songs that made the Top 5:
5. Jay-Z – ’99 Problems’
4. OutKast – ‘Hey Ya!’
3. The White Stripes – ‘Seven Nation Army’
2. M.I.A. – ‘Paper Planes’
1. Beyoncé and JAY-Z – ‘Crazy in Love’
