International Women’s Day (IWD) was established in 1909 and has become a yearly event that recognizes and celebrates the achievements, contributions, and resilience of women throughout the world. Annually on March 8, thousands of events are held throughout the world. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women and ranges from political rallies, business conferences, government activities, and networking events through to local women’s craft markets, theatric performances, fashion parades, and more.
