#WalkInWednesdays clinic

Walk-in counselling returns to Barrie

CFS Counselling + Wellbeing (CFS) is bringing back a weekly walk-in counselling clinic in response to community demand. The #WalkInWednesdays clinic will begin March 27 and run from 12 noon to 6:45 p.m. each week at CFS’s Barrie office at 20 Anne Street South.

“Our by-appointment clinics have been very popular post-pandemic, and they’ll remain available,” said Catherine Cilla, CFS Clinical Manager. “However, our community partners and client feedback indicate that some folks would be better served in the moment, and we would like to accommodate them. It’s important to note that the number of walk-in sessions available in Barrie on Wednesdays will be limited, so I encourage those interested to come early.”

The walk-in clinic will provide free professional counselling by registered social workers and psychotherapists. Sessions will be booked on a first-come first-served basis, with the last session of the day starting at 6:45 p.m. Clinic sessions are offered at no cost to clients courtesy of funding from Ontario’s Ministry of Health.

“All CFS counselling clinics are available to anyone who lives or works in Simcoe County or the District of Muskoka,” Cilla added. “We are able to provide individual, couples and family sessions during our new walk-in clinic.”
Individual, confidential counselling is available to those aged 12 and up. Children who are not part of a family counselling session are not permitted in the session room, so adult guardians are encouraged to make arrangements for childcare prior to arriving at the clinic. CFS does not offer child-care services at this time.

Please note that the #WalkInWednesdays clinic is not a crisis service. In the event of a crisis, the 24/7 mental health helpline is available at 705-728-5044. CFS Counselling + Wellness (CFS) is an accredited registered Canadian charity delivering inclusive counselling, psychotherapy, and psycho-educational wellness programming. CFS is committed to providing professional services to reduce emotional distress, enhance personal well-being and strengthen relationships. CFS celebrates its 45th anniversary in 2024.
