The Township of Springwater is working with the Severn Sound Environmental Association to develop a Local Climate Change Action Plan and is seeking public input at two upcoming public information sessions. This is an informal, drop-in style format for members of the public to learn more about the project and provide input on the final plan.
- Township Administration Centre, 2231 Nursery Road
- – July 11, 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The Township of Springwater joined the Partners for Climate Protection program in March 2022 and has committed to achieving five (5) milestones within ten (10) years. The milestones require the Township to calculate a corporate and community baseline, set a target for reduction and then develop and adopt a final plan.
“The Township is excited to partner with Severn Sound Environmental Association, members of the community and local partners to develop the Climate Change Action Plan for Springwater. The plan will help to provide strategic guidelines for the Township to continue to enhance efficiency and improvements across our municipal facilities, fleet and equipment. It will reinforce our dedication to Goal 4 of the Township’s 20-year Community-Based Strategic Plan, focusing on addressing climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.” Briana Dean, Manager of Recreation, Parks and Facilities
“The Township of Springwater has a strong history of protecting the environment. We want to show local leadership on climate policy, and as the vice chair of the SSEA, the Sustainable Severn Sound project has been a successful climate change collaboration between neighbouring municipalities.” Danielle Alexander, Springwater Councillor, Vice-Chair Severn Sound Environmental Association
The Partners for Climate Protection program is administered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and ICLEI Canada.
